Příbraz

Příbraz ( German Przibras, also Pschibras ) is a community of about 260 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It is eleven kilometers south-west of Hradec Jindřichův and belongs to Okres Jindřichův Hradec.

Geography

Příbraz is located in a pond and moorlands one kilometers left side of the Nežárka in Trebon Basin. Southeast of the Homolka (607 m) and BUBLAVA skala rise (609 m), which are part of the ridge of Javořická Highlands.

Neighboring towns are Dolni Lhota and Dvorce in the north, Lásenice in the northeast, Saddleback in the east, and Libořezy Hutě u Příbraze in the south, and Prohánidla Mníšek the southwest, Pístina in the west and Straz nad Nežárkou in the northwest.

History

First mentioned was related to the rule Straz place as Příběraz in 1518th It was created probably in the late 12th century during the colonization of the area under the Přemyslids.

1577 acquired the hydraulic engineer Wilhelm von Rosenberg, Jacob Krcin of Jelčany, Straz with the associated villages and after his death the rule in 1592 fell to William's brother Peter Wok von Rosenberg. He sold because of insolvency in 1596 the greater part of the reign of Adam II von Neuhaus. After his son Joachim Ulrich von Neuhaus died in 1604 without heirs, the inheritance of his sister Lucie Otilie fell, who was married to William Slavata since 1602. After 1693 a number of aristocratic families took turns as the owner of Straz and thus also of Příbraz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Příbraz in 1848 into an independent municipality. At the time, the village had 73 houses and 596 inhabitants. 1863, a peat was added to the southeast of the village. 1900 lived in Příbraz, which had grown to 94 houses, 743 people. In the census of 1921 was Příbraz including settlements Prohánidla, Hutě and Bažantnice of 105 houses with 622 inhabitants, who belonged to the Czech folk group and 419 of whom were Catholics. Between 1924 and 1925 by the building of the chapel of the Hussite Church.

Attractions

Because of the numerous historical buildings and monuments Příbraz 1985 was declared a village monument area. In the village there is a 1925 built chapel of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church. Příbraz is next Suchdol nad Lužnicí one of the two parishes of the Church in Okres Jindřichův Hradec.
