Prievaly
Prievaly (up to 1946 " Sandorf "; German Schandorf, Hungarian Sándorfa - to 1900 Sandorf ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 959 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011) and belongs to Okres Senica, a part of the Trnavský kraj.
Geography
The municipality is located partly in the lowlands Záhorská nížina, partly in the Small Carpathians, near the military area Zahorie in the landscape Zahorie. The center is located at an altitude of 250 m nm and is located 22 km from Senica.
History
The town was first mentioned in 1439 as Svancendorf writing and was in the territory of the castle Korlátka. 1828 are listed 116 houses and 1,162 inhabitants. The to German sounding name in 1946 by Prievaly which the word " prevalit " itself ( = " overturn " ) derives replaced.
