Princess Louise of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (1756–1808)

Louise of Saxe-Gotha -Altenburg ( born March 9, 1756 in Roda, † January 1, 1808 in Ludwig Lust) was a princess of Saxe- Gotha -Altenburg and by marriage Duchess of Mecklenburg in the country part of Mecklenburg -Schwerin.

Life

Louise was the daughter of Prince Johann August of Saxe- Gotha -Altenburg (1704-1767) from his marriage to Louise (1726-1773), daughter of Count Heinrich I Reuss to Schleiz.

They married on May 31, 1775 at Castle peace in Gotha the hereditary Prince of Mecklenburg -Schwerin, which was built in 1785 as Friedrich Franz I. reigning duke in the country part of Mecklenburg- Schwerin and was raised in 1815 to the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg. The marriage was described as happy.

As Duchess Luise died, she was buried in the tomb built for them by Luis behind the castle Ludwig pleasure. Before the tomb are two sandstone lion and the entrance in gilt letters the word " Louise ".
