Proje4L/Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art

The Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art ( Turkish Proje4L/Elgiz med Sanat Muzesi) was founded in 2001 by Can Elgiz.

The museum 's vision is to promote developments in contemporary art in Turkey and to support projects of young Turkish artists. In 2005 when art institutions and museums began to flourish in the Turkish art scene, the premises were turned into a private museum to exhibit the Elgizsammlung.

Proje4L/Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art is located in the financial district in Istanbul Maslak.

Collection

The Elgizsammlung consists of works of Turkish and international artists such as Ömer Uluç, Fahrelnissa Zeid, Abdurrahman Öztoprak, Doug Aitken, Darren Almond, Kezban Arca Batibeki, Bedri Baykam, Tine Benz, Olivier Blanckart, Peter Bonde, Buetti, Ergin Cavusoglu, Loris Cecchini, Stephen Dean, Nezaket Ekici, Friederike Feldmann, Eric Fischl, Günther Förg, Kendell Geers, Gilbert & George, Fausto Gilberti, Nan Goldin, Özlem Günyol, Peter Halley, Rebecca Horn, Karamustafa, Azade Köker, Mustafa Kunt, Sol Le Witt, Roman Lipski, Fabian Marcaccio, Paul McCarthy, Jonathan Meese, Sarah Morris, Paul Morrison, Ahmet Oran, Lea Asja Pagenkemper, Bruno Peinado, Lisa Ruyter, David Salle Julian Schnabel, Cindy Sherman, Thomas Struth, Hiroshi Sugito, Hale Tenger, David Tremlett, Tim White-Sobieski, Anne Wolk, John Wohnseifer, Won Ju Lim, Iskender Yediler, Tracey Emin, Jan Fabre, Barbara Kruger, Markus Oehlen, Cindy Sherman, Andy Warhol, Peter Halley, Paul McCarthy and Robert Rauschenberg. The collection includes the developments in contemporary art of the last twenty years, including the works of young artists.

Premises

The exhibition area of the Museum of Contemporary Art Elgiz covers over 2000 square meters. In addition to the main hall, which is selected works of Elgizsammlung reserved, there are other project rooms, an open archive and a conference room. The project areas are intended for exhibitions by young Turkish talents. In the conference room presentations on the passion of collecting are organized.
