Position of Protva ( Протва ) in the catchment area of the Oka

Protva (Russian Протва ) is a 282 km long left tributary of the Oka, which flows through the Moscow and Kaluga Oblasts in Russia. The current area covers approximately 4620 square kilometers. The water freezes regularly in December and remains until early April icy. The main tributary is the Luscha.

The main towns along the Protva are Wereja, Borovsk, Protwino and Obninsk.
