Providencia District

Providencia is one of the 23 Peruvian districts that make up the province of Luya in the region of the Amazon. The capital is the village of Providencia.

Providencia is located in a very hot area, on a slope above the river Marañón.

In the district of Providencia are numerous ruins of the people of the Chachapoyas. To get to Providencia, one has to go by car to Ocallí and go from there on foot, Providencia itself has no access to the street.

The village festival in Providencia takes place on July 17. The district Providencia belongs to the parish Ocallí.

The majority of the inhabitants of the district lives on the cultivation of coffee and coca.

In the north of Providencia district borders the district Pisuquía, the district and the district Camporredondo Ocallí, on the east by the district Ocumal ( Luya ) and in the south- west by the district Choropampa.
