Province of Enna

The Enna (Italian: Provincia di Enna) is a province of the nine provinces of the Autonomous Region of Sicily of the Republic of Italy. The capital is Enna.

The province is located in the center of Sicily in the Erei and is the only province in Sicily without access to the sea. It is bordered on the north by the province of Messina, in the east and southeast of the province of Catania, on the south and southwest by the province of Caltanissetta in the northwest of the province of Palermo.

It is divided in 20 municipalities and sparsely populated in comparison to the other provinces. Covering an area of ​​2562 km ² live 172 413 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). Located near Piazza Armerina, the second largest municipality in the province, the Villa Romana del Casale is from Roman times. It was declared a World Heritage Site.
