Pumori

Pumori (or pumo Ri ) is a mountain in the Himalayas on the border between Nepal and China, about eight kilometers west of Mount Everest. Pumori in the language of the Sherpa " Unmarried Daughter " and was chosen by George Mallory. Mountaineers call the Pumori sometimes called " daughter of Mount Everest ".

The first ascent of Pumori succeeded in 1962 Ernst Forrer, Ueli Hürlimann and Gerhard Lenser, members of a German -Swiss expedition.

In 2001, the Swiss extreme climbers Ueli Steck and Ueli Bühler managed the first ascent of the West Route ( 1400m M4/80 degree ice). Although the two were recorded in the rise of an avalanche, they succeeded in the successful observance.

A secondary peak of Pumori is Kala Patthar ( 5,675 m ), the south summit ( 5,545 m ) is frequently boarded for its view of Mount Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse and because of its proximity to the trekking route to Everest Base Camp the south side - because the base camp permitted by its valley location in the arch of Khumbu glacier no view of the Everest summit.

The Pumori is often climbed today. The easiest route has difficulty III.
