Pure Prairie League

Pure Prairie League was an American country-rock band of the 1970s, which saw a number of personnel changes.

Career

Pure Prairie League ( the name was taken from an old Errol Flynn Western ) was founded in the early 1970s in Columbus, Ohio by Craig Fuller and George Powell. One first played at a club in the Cincinnati area before 1972 with the RCA label, a record deal was concluded. Before production of the first album the drummer Tom McGrail was replaced by Jim Caughlin. In addition, the steel guitarist John Call was hired.

1972 their first album, Pure Prairie League. A little later there was another line-up changes. New drummer was Billy Hinds, Al Briscoe replaced John Call and James Rolleston bass player Jim Lanham. Added to this was the pianist Michael Connor. The 1973 released album Bustin 'Out sold poorly, and the group lost its recording contract. A song from this album, Amie, but found three years later, surprising the way in the country charts and brought back the RCA group.

However, had Craic Fuller, the leading musician and songwriter, already left the band. He was replaced by Larry Goshorn. His brother Tim Goshorn replaced the meantime again returned John Call. With the 1975 released album Two Lane Highway for the first time a chart success was recorded. The life of the band was determined by extensive touring. More albums followed. 1977 there was again a profound personal change. With George Powell, the last founding member of Pure Prairie League and the Goshorn Brothers went left. Hired the multi-instrumentalist Vince Gill and Patrick Bolin and guitarist Jeff Wilson.

After the 1979 released album cant't Holdback joined the band for the Casablanca label. Patrick Bolin got out and was replaced by Jeff Wilson. With Let Me Love You Tonight a Top Ten hit was achieved. 1983 Vince Gill left the group to pursue a solo career. Gary Burr became the new lead singer. Pure Prairie League dissolved in 1987 final.

1998 there was a reunion with Craig Fuller and Mike Reilly by Rick Shell and Curtis Wright have been added.
