Rabbi Assi

Rab Assi ( = Jose, also Assa, Assi or Issi, even Assi II, the name is probably the diminutive of Josef ) was a well known, legendenumrankter amora of the third generation ( about 290-320 AD) in Palestine.

Assi had migrated from Babylonia. There he was a student of Samuel, later he was in Palestine pupil of Johanan.
