Radek Baborák

Radek Radek ( born March 11, 1976 in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech horn player.

Radek Radek was born into a musical family and started playing with Karel Krenek horn at the age of eight years. Age of twelve, he was winner of the Radio Competition Concertino Praga. Three years later he won the third prize at the Prague Spring.

From 1989-1994 Radek Radek studied with Bedřich Tylšar.

Awards

He has won numerous competitions, a selection of the most important:

• International Radio Competition UNESCO ( 1993)
• Second prize in Geneva 1993 ( the first prize was not awarded)
• First prize at the International Music Competition of the ARD in Munich (1994 )
• First Prize at the International Instrumental Competition Mark Neukirchen (1994 )
• Grammy Classic Award in the Czech Republic ( 1995)
• Davidoff Prize 2001
• Mostly Classic Award 2002

As a soloist, he performs with major orchestras in Germany and abroad - and Others London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn, Bach Academy in Stuttgart, Deutsches Symphonie -Orchester Berlin, SWR Symphony Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Lyon, Tokyo Philharmonic, NHK Symphony Orchestra among others; In addition to numerous television appearances, there are recitals at renowned festivals and important cultural centers in the world.

Radek Radek won the ARD Competition in Munich in 1997 with the Afflatus quintet also a first prize in the woodwind quintet.

Even the age of eighteen he was principal horn of the Czech Philharmonic. Baborák was 1996-2000 principal horn of the Munich Philharmonic, 2000-2002 Principal Horn of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and from 1998 to 2000 he was guest lecturer at the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini as the successor of Hermann Baumann. From 2002 to 2011 he was engaged as principal horn of the Berlin Philharmonic.
