Radio Thailand World Service

Radio Thailand is the external public radio station of the Kingdom of Thailand, based in Bangkok. Today Radio Thailand is one of the NBT ( National Broadcasting Services of Thailand) which also operates other radio stations and the television PRD -11.

History

Foreign-language radio broadcasts from Thailand has been around since 20 October 1938. Then there were first broadcast in English and French, which were addressed to the inhabitants of the British and French colonies in the region. During the Second World War, the foreign service has been extended to several Asian languages ​​: first, Burmese, Hindi, Japanese, Malay, and later included other languages ​​of the region. A further expansion of the program took place in 1994. So began on June 4 of that year, the daily, fifteen-minute broadcasts in German language. First transmission facilities in Bangkok and Bang Phun were used for the short-wave broadcasts. Since August 1994, the short- wave transmitter Udon Thani is operated at a power of 500 kW. This is also known as a relay station for Voice of America in use. The international service broadcasts in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region on FM 97.0 MHz, and on medium wave 927 kHz, and the short waves 4830, 9655 and 11905 kHz.

The fifteen-minute daily broadcast in German language contains a political comment usually next to messages. At the latest in the comments here, the position of the Thai government is mostly propagated.
