Radu Vasile

Radu Vasile ( born October 10, 1942 in Drăgăşani, Vâlcea county, † July 3, 2013 ) was a Romanian historian, university professor and politician of the Partidul Naţional Ţărănesc Crestin Democrat ( PNTCD ), who was also Prime Minister from 1998 to 1999.

Life

After schooling Vasile studied History at the History Department of the University of Bucharest and graduated in 1967 with honors. For some time it access to higher education had been denied because of his father, as it was as a lawyer because of the criticism of the government of political prisoners. In 1971 he was appointed as a lecturer in 1978 at the Faculty of Economic History at the Academy of Economics Research Assistant at the Department of Economic History at the Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest and after the purchase of Philosophiae Doctor in Economics (Ph. D. Economics) in 1977.

It was the end of 1989 elected with the support of students for Vice Dean of the Faculty of Commerce Management of Business Academy and held that office until 1992. During this time, he took European Integration at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich also courses in specialized in part.

After joining the PNTCD he also began a political career; he was on 21 October 1992 for the first time a member of the Senate and belonged to this until 2004. In addition, he served as September-November 1996 from February to June 1998 and in February 2004, Vice- President of the Senate.

In 1994 he accepted a call to a professorship at the Academy of Economics.

On April 17, 1998, he became Prime Minister of Romania, and held this office until 13 December 1999. During this period (January and February 1999) were protests by miners, called " Mine triads ". His Cabinet consisted of 25 ministers. After his resignation, the former Minister of Labour and Social Protection Alexandru Athanasiu was until December 22, 1999 Prime Minister of the transitional government.

After he resigned in December 1999 from the PNTCD, he belonged to the Senate, first as a non-party to, before 2000 Member of the Partidul Democrat ( PD) has been a year. After retiring from the Senate, he joined as a university professor and wrote again on next poems under the pseudonym Radu Mischiu.
