Raghunandan Swarup Pathak

Raghunandan Swarup Pathak ( born November 25, 1924 in Bareilly, † November 17, 2007 in Delhi ) was Chief Justice of India. He was the son of Gopal Swarup Pathak, former Vice President of India.

Biography

After studying law at the Allahabad University, he worked as a lawyer at the Allahabad High Court, where he mainly dealt with constitutional law, tax law and company law.

From 21 December 1986 to June 18, 1989, he was President of the Supreme Court of India and from 1989 to 1991 Judge at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

In November 2005, Pathak was commissioned to investigate the Indian connections to the oil-for- food program. On 31 August 2006, he published a 90 -page report in which he accused the former Foreign Minister Natwar Singh Kanwar corruption.

Pathak died on November 17, 2007 at the age of 82 years to a heart attack.
