Ranjit Bhatia

Ranjit Bhatia OBE (* May 27, 1936; † February 9, 2014 in New Delhi ) was an Indian athlete and high school teachers.

Life

Bhatia studied at St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi mathematics. After that, he was enrolled from 1957 with a Rhodes scholarship at Jesus College, Oxford University. From there, he took part in the Summer Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 in part as a long distance runner. He completed the 5,000 -meter run as the 11th in the second race of Round 1 and the Marathon than 60 Bhatia belonged to the Indian runner generation of Milkha Singh and Gurbachan Singh Randhawa. As a mathematician he taught until his retirement at the St. Stephens College in Delhi.

Bhatia wrote extensively for sports magazines and accompanied seven Olympiads for various Indian newspapers. He published in 1999 the statistical Reebok Handbook of Indian Athletics.
