Raphael Diaz

Raphael Diaz ( born January 9, 1986 in Baar ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who is since March 2014 at the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Raphael Diaz began his career as a hockey player in the young field of EV train for the first team, he made his debut in the National League A in the 2003/04 season. Previously, he had played three years for the A- juniors of EV train in the elite Junior A league. In his rookie year, the defender scored two goals in 43 games and was a template. By the end of the season 2010/11 he played exclusively in the NLA for the EV train, where he had a regular place. Through his rise to become one of the best Swiss defender has been speculated in 2010 on a dismount. But Diaz extended his contract with train until the year 2016, with an exit clause for the NHL is included in the contract. In May 2011 he signed a Zweiwegvertrag for a year with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League and was in his first season with the Canadiens secure a regular place in the defense. On February 3, 2014 he was transferred in exchange for Dale way to the Vancouver Canucks, which it in turn one months later, charges in exchange for a vote on the New York Rangers just before the trade deadline.

Internationally

With the Swiss national ice hockey team Diaz took part in the U18 Junior B World Cup 2004 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2005 and 2006. In addition, he was in the squad of Switzerland at the World Championships in 2008 and 2011 and participated in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in part.

At the World Championships in 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki, he was again part of the national team and won the silver medal with this.
