Rattanaburi District

Amphoe Rattanaburi ( Thai: อำเภอ รัตนบุรี ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northeastern province of Surin. The Surin province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the Isaan.

Geography

Amphoe Rattanaburi borders the following districts (from the south clockwise): Amphoe to the Non Narai, Sanom and Tha Tum in the province of Surin, on the Amphoe Phon Sai Suwannaphum and the province of Roi Et, Amphoe Rasi Salai and to the, Bueng Bun, Pho Si Suwan and Chan Mueang Sisaket province.

History

Rattanaburi was a Mueang under Mueang Surin, it was raised during the Thesaphiban management reform at the end of the 19th century in the Amphoe status.

Management

Amphoe Rattanaburi is divided into twelve subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 163 villages ( Muban ).

There is a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Rattanaburi ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล รัตนบุรี ), consisting of parts of the tambon Rattanaburi as well as parts of the Tambon Phai.

In addition, there are twelve " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.

Note: The missing numbers refer to the tambon which now belong to Non Narai.
