Raw Vision

Raw Vision is an English art magazine, which is published by John Maizels and is dedicated to the only magazine worldwide of Outsider art. The journal is published in Watford and was honored in 1998 with the Prix CAMERA UNESCO as the best art magazine. In 1991, Raw Vision 700 subscribers, in 2007, the circulation of John Maizels is given as 8,000 copies.

History

The at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London -trained painter John Maizels 's attention in 1974 to the Art Brut, after he had read Roger Cardinals book " Outsider Art ".

After visiting collections and visionary environments, he decided to fight for the existence of this art movement. First, he edited the fanzine Zombic News before he published with some volunteers in the spring of 1989, supported by Roger Cardinal, Michel Thévoz, John McGregor and American collectors, the first issue of Raw Vision.

The magazine first appeared irregularly, then every six months. By the year 1997, she appeared in two languages ​​French and English, the French edition was supervised in Paris by Laurent Danchin. The French edition had to be discontinued due to lack of financial support through galleries and museums. On the other side of the Channel and especially in the United States, the magazine received great support from the network of galleries, museums and collectors. The establishment of the Outsider Art Fair, an international art fair in New York, played a major role because the journal was given its quality and dynamics. Raw vision itself became an important part of this network.

Content
