Recologne, Haute-Saône

Recologne, also called Recologne -lès- Ray, is a village in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Recologne situated at an altitude of 205 m above sea level, 28 km west-southwest of Vesoul and about 44 km north- northwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the west of the department, a slightly elevated position on the north bank of the Saône.

The area of ​​1.15 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the middle Saône Valley. The southern boundary runs mostly along the Saone, which flows here with large loops through a wide Alluvialniederung to the west. The flood plain is on average 197 m and has a width of about two kilometers wide. The river is channeled and expanded to waterway. The western boundary is the Gourgeonne, a right tributary of the Saône. From the river, the municipality's area extends north across the flood plain to the hill of Bois de Tincey. This consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments of the upper Jurassic period. With 226 m find the highest mountains of Recologne is achieved.

History

Is first mentioned Recologne in 1276 under the name Recoloines. In the course of time the spelling on Recoloines prez de Ray ( 1341 ), Recoulongne ( 1614) and Recologne -lez- Ray (1699 ) transformed to the present name. The place name derives from the Latin word colonia ( settlement ) and the prefix re - starting, and thus refers to a land that was settled again. In the Middle Ages Recologne belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local rule had always been held by the Lords of Ray. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Recologne is a member of the 42 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Quatre Rivières.

Attractions

Worth seeing is a small chapel with a square onion tower from the 18th century, which is integrated into the building, which also houses the Mairie ( Town Hall). The internal design of the chapel include a main altar, statues and wall paintings from the 18th century. Recologne belongs to the parish of Ray -sur -Saône.

Population

With 42 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Recologne one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly during the first half of the 20th century (1881 108 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded in the last decades.

Economy and infrastructure

Recologne was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Membrey by Ray -sur -Saône. Another road connection with Pontrebeau.
