1964 Reliant Sabre Six Coupe

The Reliant Sabre is a small sports car, which by the Reliant Motor Company in Tamworth ( England) was built from 1961 to 1965.

History

The Sabre was Co. Ltd. together with the Israeli automobile manufacturers car Cars. developed. The first copies, two-door convertibles, appeared in 1961 and had front mounted engines from Ford Consul with 1,703 cc displacement and rear wheel drive. They had front disc brakes, rack & pinion steering, and fully synchronized transmission from ZF. The front wheels were hung pushed trailing arms. The engine produced 57-73 hp ( 42-54 kW ) and the top speed was at least 145 km / h The bodies were originally based on those of Ashley in 1172, for the Reliant bought the rights. Coupes were introduced in June 1962; a total of 208 cars of this type were manufactured.

1962 Reliant Sabre Six was introduced, the (72 kW) had a six-cylinder in-line engine from Ford with 2,553 cc displacement and an output of 98 bhp which took the car to 177 km / h and 12.2 seconds of it in 0 up to 100 km / h acceleration. The front section of the Sabre Six differed from that of the original Sabre, but the first 17 Sabre Six had the more common suspension of the Triumph TR4. Overall created 77 Sabre Six, 75 coupes and 2 convertibles.
