Relizane Province

The Relizane (Arabic ولاية غليزان, DMG Wilāyat Ġulaizān ) Province is a province ( wilaya ) in northwestern Algeria.

The province is located near the Mediterranean Sea in the Atlas Mountains and covers an area of ​​5,208 km2.

Around 674,000 people ( 2006 estimate ) live in the province, the population density is thus approximately 130 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The provincial capital is Relizane ( Ghilizane ).

During the Algerian Civil War found at the turn of 1997/98 in several villages of the province Relizane massacre took that claimed hundreds of casualties.
