Rems-Murr-Kreis
The Rems -Murr-Kreis is a 858.14 km ² large district in Baden- Württemberg, based in Waiblingen. It was created in 1973 from the former county of Waiblingen, large parts of the former county Backnang and a smaller part of the former district of Schwäbisch Gmünd. Named after the two rivers Rems Murr and that characterize the relief of the circular area with its valleys and side valleys.

Geography
The built-up areas of the district are located in the west of the county, where he attended the Gaeu landscapes has share with the Neckar basin and the Backnanger Bay, and in the Rems valley, which runs to the south of the circle from east to west. History
The Rems- Murr district was formed by the district reform on 1 January 1973. At that time the old district of Waiblingen with the largest part of the former district was Backnang ( License Plate BK) combined to form new Rems -Murr -Kreis. Furthermore, some places of the former district of Schwäbisch Gmünd were incorporated ( License Plate GD). The two Altkreise Waiblingen and Backnang go back to the old Württemberg top offices Waiblingen and Backnang that were built in the days of the Duchy of Württemberg. Throughout history they have been changed several times and in 1934 /38 on into the districts of Waiblingen and Backnang. At that time, the district Waiblingen took almost all the churches of the Oberamts Schorndorf and many communities in the Upper Office Welzheim, the county Backnang many communities of the upper offices Gaildorf, Marbach and Welzheim on. Policy
The district is administered by the county council and the district administration. The district council is elected by the voters in the district for five years. This body elects the District for a term of eight years. This is the legal representative and the representative of the district as well as Chairman of the County Council and its committees. He directs the district office and is an official of the circle. His area of responsibility includes the preparation of the district council meetings and its committees. Coat of arms

Meaning: The Hirsch rod is for the house of Württemberg, which dominated most of the present-day county area since the 14th century. The two wave strips symbolize the rivers Rems Murr and which gave its name to the circuit.

Economy and infrastructure
With the companies Ericsson and Tesat Spacecom there are two high-tech firms in Backnang. The international manufacturer of chainsaws and small engine equipment, Andreas Stihl AG & Co. KG, has a headquarters in Waiblingen -Neustadt. Robert Bosch GmbH has two plants in Waiblingen ( for plastics technology and packaging technology ) and one in Murrhardt. Winnenden is the seat of cleaning equipment manufacturer Kärcher. The U.S. automotive supplier TRW Automotive has built in Alfdorf one of its technology centers (airbag and seat belt ).
Traffic
By the district does not conduct motorway, as plans for a Odenwald- Neckar -Alb -Autobahn (A 45) and a Federal Highway 85 have been abandoned. The A81 Stuttgart -Würzburg leads just a few kilometers west past of the district. The main roads in the county are in the district through four-lane B 29 Waiblingen- Aalen, the B 14 Stuttgart- Schwäbisch Hall, the four lanes to the junction Nellmersbach. A further expansion of B 14 to Backnang is provided.
The district is connected to the network of the Stuttgart S-Bahn. The S2 line runs from Stuttgart and Fellbach Schorndorf Waiblingen. Here they used the Rems Railway, which crosses the county boundary to eels, is continuous double track and electrified, and is regularly served by trains of the Intercity line Karlsruhe -Nuremberg. Hospitals
The Rems -Murr-Kreis is also partner of the Rems- Murr -Kliniken gGmbH with clinics in Backnang, Schorndorf Waiblingen. More clinics are the center of Psychiatry Winnenden ( public institution ), the Geriatric Rehabilitation Clinic Bethel Welzheim and the two private clinics Central Hospital Waiblingen GmbH and specialist clinic for the treatment of alcohol and drug dependence Wilhelmsheim in Oppenweiler.
On 14 July 2008, the council has decided to continue to operate the previously presented as a proper operating three hospitals in Waiblingen Related Categories and Schorndorf in the legal form of a non-profit company.
