Renate Garisch-Culmberger

Renate Boy (born Garisch - Culmberger; born January 24, 1939 in pillau, East Prussia ) is a former German track and field athlete and Olympic medal winner, who in the 1960s - starting for the GDR - one of the world's best shot putters inside.

Life

It was 1962 European silver medalist. Her biggest success is the silver medal at the 1964 Olympic Games, where she took in the all-German team.

After the birth of two children, she succeeded in 1967 and 1968 respectively a successful comeback, but without medal success in international highlights. Garisch - Culmberger competed for the SC Empor Rostock and trained first with Emil Hirschfeld, the first 16-meter joggers and Olympic bronze medalists from 1928. Later she was supervised by Karl- Heinz Bauer Field.

In her playing days, she was 1.76 m tall and weighed 108 kg. In the becoming public knowledge after the fall of documents on doping in the GDR was found in the doped athletes also the name of Boy. After her athletic career, she worked as a shift manager in the fish combine Rostock.
