René Cresté

René CRESTE ( born December 5, 1881 in Paris, † November 30, 1922 ) was a French silent film actor and director.

Life

In 1901 he made ​​his stage debut, in 1908, he was also employed as a film actor at Gaumont. He turned from 1913 with director Léonce Perret, and was occupied in 1916 by Louis Feuillade the title role of the masked avenger in the silent film series Judex and La nouvelle mission de Judex. This series brought him to fame and he got more leading roles in Feuillade, including when Pierre Bertin in Vendémiaire and as a researcher Jacques D' Athys in Tih Minh (both 1918).

After that CRESTE fell out with Feuillade and founded his own production company. He led 1921/22, when three unsuccessful films to direct myself. CRESTE died in 1922 of tuberculosis.
