René Gagnier

René Gagnier (* May 30, 1892 in Montreal, † May 25, 1951 in Trois- Rivières ) was a Canadian composer, conductor, violinist and euphonium.

Gagnier had first lessons from his father Joseph Gagnier and then studied with Albert Chamberland, Saul Brant and Alfred De Sève. From 1918 to 1929 he was conductor at the Loew 's Theatre. He was also, inter alia, Member of the Montreal Orchestra, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Little; also twenty-five years euphonium player and conductor with the Canadian Grenadier Guards band. 1936 and 1937, he was second violinist in the Dubois String Quartet.

1939 moved Gagnier to Trois -Rivières, where he eleven years the Union musicale initiated. He taught at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec, the Académie de Trois- Rivières and the Séminaire de Nicolet. Gagnier composed marches and waltzes.
