René Wagner

René Wagner ( born October 31, 1972 in Brno ) is a former Czech football player.

Club career

René Wagner began his professional career at Boby Brno. He played for the club until 1996, before the striker was headhunted by the then Austrian champions Rapid Vienna. Wagner soon became one of the most important players of the club. In the very first season for Rapid he was in 1996/97 with 21 goals scorer in the Bundesliga.

In eight years in Hütteldorf he scored 90 goals in 261 appearances for the club, playing in the Champions League and was four times Austrian Vice Champion. However, a title win was Wagner failed. In summer 2004, Wagner finally moved to league rivals SV Mattersburg, as he was slowly replaced by younger players.

2006 Wagner returned to 1.FC Brno, in June 2008, he ended his professional career. From 2008 to 2010 René Wagner played for SV Leoben village in the first division of Lower Austria. Since 2010, Wagner has been active for the Czech fourth division Sparta Brno.

René Wagner graduated in the years 1995 to 2001, a total of eleven appearances for the Czech Republic and scoring three goals.

Coaching career

Wagner worked after the end of his professional career as an assistant at the B- team of 1 FC Brno, then the former attacker initially oversaw the B- juniors of the club, the A - youth.
