Geography

Reppichau between Dessau and the county town of Köthen (Anhalt) on the edge of the Biosphere Reserve Middle Elbe.

History

First mention

The church was first mentioned in 1156. As with almost all places in the vicinity of the town's original name Repgow is of Slavic origin.

Eike von Repgow

The derived probably from Reppichau Ministeriale Eike von Repgow wrote at the beginning of the 13th century by order of the Counts Hoyer von Falkenstein, the first medieval law book, the Saxons mirror - a hitherto codified collection of mainly Saxon legal principles of common law.

Partnering with other communities

On January 1, 2010, the formerly independent communities Reppichau, Chörau, Diebzig, Dornbock, Drosa, Elsnigk, Großpaschleben, Kleinpaschleben, Libbesdorf, Micheln, Osternienburg, Zabitz, Trinum and Wulfen merged to form a unified community Osternienburger country together. At the same time the management of Community Osternienburg, which included these communities was dissolved.

In 1999, the council instructed the Kommunalheraldiker Jörg Mantzsch with the development of a typical local coat of arms. Reppichau however, has no outstanding historical significance.
