Indo- Australian Tüpfelrochen ( Himantura uarnak )

The Indo -Australian Tüpfelrochen ( Himantura uarnak ) is a ray species from the family of stingrays ( Dasyatidae ).

Features

These rays can reach a diameter of up to 1.5 m. The almost circular body is covered with dark spots, which can fade in old age, or dissolve completely. The whip -like tail is almost twice as long as the real body and much darker from the clearly visible sting than the rest of the fish.

Dissemination

The Indo -Australian Tüpfelrochen comes from the Red Sea before to French Polynesia and to the southern Japan. It is encountered in 0.3 to 75 meters deep and lives in sandy and muddy lagoons and deltas. It is also found in Riffnähe and riffnahen outer slopes.

Way of life

It feeds on shrimp, crabs, mollusks, fish, and jellyfish.

After a gestation period of one year 1 to 5 young are born.
