Reutlingen University (formerly " College of Technology and Business Reutlingen ") is a technical and business -oriented University of Applied Sciences in Baden-Württemberg in Reutlingen. The curriculum covers undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as professional training at university level.

In recent years, the business courses in university rankings of mirror, Handelsblatt, CHE, Star Magazine and managers have received numerous awards for their high quality of education in their field.

History

The weaving established in 1855, by further technical textile laboratories and study programs to the " Royal Württemberg pilot plant for textile industry " ( after 1918 State pilot ). In the imperial street an imposing building was built at the turn of the century to the 20th century created with large factory buildings. The building is now a listed building and currently houses the police headquarters in Reutlingen. 1938 was from the pilot state engineering school, from the conversion by 1971, the college was established.

The educational institution - since January 2005 " Reutlingen " - currently comprises five faculties: Applied Chemistry, ESB Business School, computer science, engineering and Textiles & Design with approximately 5,200 students, of which more than 20 % international students. With more than 140 partner universities an intensive exchange is maintained worldwide. Particular characteristics of the university, in addition to the internationality of the emphasis on the practical as well as a situated in the west of the city campus with sports and residential facilities for the students. The university, founded in 2005 is a member of the university region Tübingen -Hohenheim.

On 18 June 2005, the university celebrated its 150th anniversary.

Organization

Currently, the university is led by President Prof. Dr. Hendrik Grumpy, who teaches at the ESB Business School since 2004. His predecessor, Prof. Dr. Peter Niess (2007 to 2012). This, in turn, assumed the office of Wolfgang Hiller. The President, two Vice-Presidents ( Prof. Dr. Gerhard Gruhler and Prof. Harald Dallmann ) to the side. Chancellor Paula Mattes runs the administration. The Reutlingen University is since 2000 an external University Council to the side. The Chair directs Andreas Renschler, Member of the Board of Daimler AG.

Since the winter semester 2003/2004 the entire academic program of the university to Bachelor and Master is changed, according to the Bologna process. The university consists of five faculties:

ESB Business School

Reutlingen University had originally three business departments, the European School of Business (ESB ), the School of International Business (SIB ) and the Faculty of Production Management (PM). On June 1, 2008, these merged to ESB Reutlingen. Meanwhile, is the official designation " ESB Business School ". This currently offers 20 degree programs in numerous rankings repeatedly leader in the field occupy colleges.

Computer science

The Faculty of computer science emerged from the Department of Business computer science, which was established in 1984. The degree program in computer science achieved top rankings for several years in various rankings in 2010 to second place in the Handelsblatt ranking. Prof. Armin Roth from the degree program in computer science in 2010 won second place in the nationwide competition " Professor of the Year ". Prof. Armin Roth developed under the research area "Enterprise Performance Management and Business Intelligence " management cockpit.

In 2003, a bachelor's and a master's program " Media and communication computer science " ( MKI ) has been introduced. The master's degree MKI has taken 2010 at the CHE ranking among all colleges in second place. In the winter semester 2010/ 11, the program " medical-technical computer science " started.
