Řevnice

Řevnice ( German Řevnice ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located 24 kilometers southwest of the center of Prague on the Berounka and belongs to Okres Praha- západ.

Geography

Řevnice is located on the northeastern edge of the Brdywaldes on the right bank of the Berounka. In Řevnice the state roads cross 115 of Radotín after Hostomice and 116 of Beroun after Mníšek pod Brd. The town lies on the railway from Prague via Radotín to Beroun.

Neighboring towns are Rovina, Mořinka and Lety in the north, Dobrichovice in the northeast, Černolice in the east, in the southeast Řitka, Mníšek pod Brdy in the south, Halouny, Svinaře and Lhotka in the southwest, Zadnà Třebaň in the west and Hlásná Třebaň in the northwest.

History

First written messages over a under the patronage of the nunnery of St. George standing Kostelní village date from the 12th century. In 1253 Wenceslas I left the St. Maurice Church of the Cross with the Red Star. It is believed that the city was founded by Ottokar II took place. 1304 donated Wenceslas II parts of the market Hrzebnicz who possessed two churches at this time, the Cistercian Monastery Aula Regia. By John of Luxembourg in 1335, the market was given several privileges.

Operated in 1732 and expanded Charles VI. these rights and awarded the right to bear a coat of arms city. In the mid-18th century, the Romanesque Kreuzherrenkirche St. Mauritius and the Gothic Cistercian Church of the Virgin Mary were canceled and erected in its place the present Baroque church of St. Mauritius.
