The Rhodes " Diagoras " Airport ( IATA: RHO, ICAO: LGRP, officially Rhodes International Airport, Greek: Κρατικός Αερολιμένας Ρόδου " Διαγόρας " or often also Rhodes Paradisi ) is the international airport of the Greek island of Rhodes, located on the west coast, about 16 km from Rhodes town.

History

Today Rhodes Diagoras airport replaced the 1977 Rhodes Maritsa Airport, which had reached its capacity limits. On the old airport today events.

Rhodes Airport has a single start and runway, from the east (course 248) may be flown to the airport with instrument landing system. The runway having a length of 3260 m, and thus also larger machines the possibility to land.

There are some small duty- free shops, bars and bistros to passengers. All major European car rental companies are represented at the airport.

The airport is served by year-round scheduled flights of Olympic and Aegean Airlines from Athens, Thessaloniki, Karpathos, Leros and Kassos. Between April and October, to land mainly charter and low cost airlines with holiday guests from many countries of Europe and the Middle East (Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt).

Transport links

The airport is accessible by car, taxi and bus ( to Rhodes ), and lies 16 km from the city center. The bus from Rhodes Town to the airport is approximately between 6:00 clock 1 ½ - hour to 22:30 clock.
