Richard, 6th Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg

Richard Prince zu Sayn -Wittgenstein- Berleburg, full name Richard Casimir Karl August Robert Konstantin Prinz zu Sayn -Wittgenstein- Berleburg ( born October 29, 1934 in Gießen) is a German entrepreneur and head of the House of Sayn -Wittgenstein- Berleburg also head of the total house Sayn- ​​Wittgenstein.

Life

Richard is the eldest son of Prince Gustav Albrecht zu Sayn -Wittgenstein- Berleburg (1907-1944) and his wife, the Swedish countess Margareta Fouché d' Otrante ( 1909-2005 ). Since his father was officially declared dead in 1969, Richard is regarded as head of the House of Sayn -Wittgenstein- Berleburg. Richard attended high school and studied law in Tübingen. After his studies he joined the Wittgenstein Berleburgische Rentkammer based on a Berleburg Castle; the Rentkammer manages approximately 13,000 acres of forest and about 150 plots at home and abroad, as well as company investments.

At the wedding of the then Dutch Princess Beatrix of Orange- Nassau with the German diplomat Claus von Amsberg Richard learned to know his future wife. On February 3, 1968, he married at Fredensborg Castle Princess Benedikte of Denmark ( born April 29, 1944), second daughter of King Frederick IX. (1899-1972) and Queen Ingrid ( 1910-2000 ). The marriage produced three children: Gustav Frederik Philip Richard ( born January 12, 1969), Alexandra Rosemarie Ingrid Benedikte ( born November 20, 1970) and Nathalie Xenia Margareta Benedikte ( born 2 May 1975).
