Rickenbach is a municipality in the district of Waldshut in Baden- Württemberg. Since 2008 Rickenbach is a health resort.

Geography

Geographical location

The small spa resort Rickenbach lies in the Middle Hotze forest on the southern edge of the Black Forest on the Upper Rhine. The hilly plateau is separated by the steep-sided valley that flows through the river Murg. Forests with a high proportion of spruce are interrupted by meadows, farmland and pastures. On a clear day you can see to the Alpine chain (photo). The municipality is located approximately between 700 and 900 meters above sea level.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by Herrischried, to the east by Görwihl and the town of Laufen Castle, on the south by Murg and Bad Säckingen and to the west by the City defense.

Community structure

Rickenbach consists of six formerly independent urban areas with a total of 13 villages. For the church today are Rickenbach, Altenschwand with glassworks and knitting, Hottingen, Willaringen with Egg, young wood, Lehnhof, Schweikhof, Wieladingen and Wick Arts Mill, Bergalingen and cabins with Rüttehof.

History

Today Rickenbach was born in 1975 in the wake of local government reform by the merger of the municipalities Bergalingen, Hottingen, Rickenbach and Willaringen. Altenschwand and huts had joined in 1973 at Rickenbach. Rickenbach and its districts can look back on a history of settlement, dating back mostly in the second half of the 13th century.

The place Rickenbach was first mentioned in 1257 and became one of the most important places in the southwestern Hotze forest. As a vicarage Rickenbach was the center of a vast church game. Until the founding of the State of Baden in 1805, the place was as Einungs of performance and jurisdiction for the county of Hauenstein.

Altenschwand emerged as a scattered settlement and was first mentioned in 1300. With its hamlet glassworks, it is one of the oldest glassmaking settlements of the Black Forest.

The district Bergalingen was probably inhabited in the Neolithic period. The present village has its origins in the 13th century.

In the same time, the first documentary evidence of the emerging from individual farms and settlements huts and Rüttehof, with huts until 1973 was an independent village date.

A first indication of Hottingen is found only in the year 1416.

To Willaringen count the scattered settlements Egg, young wood, Schweikhof, Wieladingen and Wick Arts mill a number of quite different hamlets. Wieladingen, Schweikhof, Egg and young wood are the oldest documented detectable settlements in the area. You already arisen between the 8th and 10th centuries as clearing settlements of the monastery in Säckingen. Until the 14th century the villages were administered by the Knights of Wieladingen on the local castle. Today's church was re- formed in the course of municipal reform in Baden- Württemberg on 1 January 1975 by the Association of Municipalities Rickenbach, Bergalingen and Willaringen. The then independent municipality Hottingen was incorporated into Rickenbach Also on 1 January 1975. Already on 1 January 1973 Altenschwand and cottages were incorporated.

Policy

The municipality is a member of the Agreed administrative community of the city of Bad Säckingen.

Parish council

The council are after the local elections of 7 June 2009, in addition to the mayor as chairman, 15 members.

Mayor

From 1983 until April 2007 Georg Keller was mayor. Since May 2, 2007 Norbert Moos husband was in office. However, between him and the council there was heaped to tensions. Museums

Since 2001 there is an energy museum, which is located at Hottingen. It is dedicated to the domestic energy sources. Focus is on the use of hydropower. In addition, driven by transmissions agricultural and domestic appliances are shown.

Structures

Situated between Bergalingen and young wood high Rheinsender Deutsche Telekom serves with its 184 -meter-high radio mast for broadcasting television programs.

The Catholic parish church of St. Gordian and St. Epimach has glass windows of the great artist Emil Wachter in 1986.
