Ried im Zillertal

Ried is a municipality with 1216 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Zillertal valley and belongs to the district of Schwaz in Tirol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Zell am Ziller.

Geography

Ried is located in the middle Zillertal, on the left bank of the Ziller. The community consists of Kleinried, Großried and Taxach the alluvial fan of the Ried Bach and the embossed farms Riedenberg on the mountainside.

History

The place name from the time of the Bavarian land acquisition depends " clear " along with. Ried probably originated in the 10th century and was first mentioned in documents in 1150. It belonged to Uderns the Tyrolean part of the Zillertal, while belonging to other communities to Salzburg.

A constant threat to the place were mudslides through the Riedbachstraße.
