Riedsee bei Leeheim

Formation and location

The Riedsee at Leeheim arose as a result of gravel extraction. Its clear water covers an area of almost 24 hectares. The lake is considered one of the cleanest lakes in Hesse.

The recreation area " Riedsee " is actually two lakes; both emerged from the gravel mining. The South Seas to the public is not accessible, the North Sea can turn into a western part - which is used as fishing area - and the eastern part - which is recognized as a bathing area - divide.
