Riedstadt

Ried city is measured by its area, the largest town in the Groß -Gerau in Hesse. The administrative headquarters is located in the central district Goddelau.

Geography

Geographical location

Ried city is characterized by a preserved rural structure, but also the proximity to the cities of Frankfurt am Main, Darmstadt, Wiesbaden, Mainz and Mannheim. It is, as the name suggests, in the Hessian Ried, and is adjacent to the urban area directly to the Rhine. The city operates structural settlements of environmentally friendly businesses.

As recreation areas are located within the city limits, large parts of the nature reserve Kühkopf - Knoblochsaue and Riedsee at Leeheim. In another environment, the mountain road, the Odenwald and the Taunus are.

Neighboring communities

Ried city is bordered to the north by the municipality Trebur and the city of Groß-Gerau, on the east by the cities of Griesheim and Pfungstadt ( both in Darmstadt -Dieburg ) in the south to the city of Gernsheim and the communities Biebesheim and stick city, and to the west by the municipalities Ludwig height and Dienheim, and the city of Oppenheim ( all three in the Mainz-Bingen district ).

Boroughs

Ried city consists of the central district Goddelau as well as the districts Crumstadt in the south, Erfelden in the West, Leeheim in the northwest and Wolfskehlen in the north. Spatially separated between Goddelau and Crumstadt and of the development of the two parts of the city lies the sprawling campus of the psychiatric clinic Philip Hospital, which has already established itself as one of the first hospitals of this kind in 1535.

History

Incorporations

Ahead of municipal reform in Hesse, the community Goddelau - Wolfskehlen was newly formed by the merger of the municipalities Goddelau and Wolfskehlen on 1 July 1973. Through the merger legally possessed this community with the communities Erfelden, Crumstadt and Leeheim established on 1 January 1977, the new church Ried city.

On 17 January 2007, the Hessian Ministry of the Interior to Ried city awarded as the last church of Hesse with more than 20,000 inhabitants, the city rights.

Policy

Mayor of Ried city had since 1993 Gerald grief, SPD. In the direct election in 2005 he was re-elected on the second ballot. After his resignation from the office was temporarily unoccupied. As the new mayor of the non-party Amend Werner was elected in a runoff election on 23 January 2011.

From the local elections of 2011, the SPD went again emerged as the strongest force in front of the CDU. The big winner was the Green List Ried city that could more than double its earnings. The left first acquired the collection in Ried townspeople Parliament. Traffic
