Rikky von Opel

Rikky von Opel, actually Frederick von Opel ( born October 14, 1947 in New York City ) is a former Formula 1 racing driver. He is currently the only Formula 1 race car driver who competed for Liechtenstein.

Rikky von Opel is the great-grandson of Adam Opel, and first child of the second marriage of the racer Fritz von Opel with Emita Herrán Olozaga. He began his career under the pseudonym Antonio Bronco because he wanted to convince as a racer and not a descendant of a carmaker dynasty; Moreover, he wanted to be considerate of his family.

1972 Opel won by the British Formula 3 Championship. He drove his first Formula 1 race in the 1973 season for Ensign at the Grand Prix of France. After only a moderate success at five other starts, he moved to the 1974 season for the Brabham team, for which he took in four races. His last Grand Prix he graduated in the Netherlands in 1974.

From Opel was able to achieve the goal only in four of his ten race starts. His best results were two ninth places for Brabham. It does not reach a championship point.
