Říkov

Říkov until 1990 Říkov ( German Rikow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers northeast of Jaroměř and belongs to Okres Náchod.

Geography

Říkov is located on a hill on the left bank of the river Upa opposite the mouth of the creek Válovický creek. To the east lies the reservoir Rozkoš. In the north of the State Road 33 runs between Náchod and Jaroměř. Southeast of the village from the railway Jaroměř - Trutnov is bypassed, the station Velka Jesenice is located one mile south of Říkov.

Neighboring towns are Velky Třebešov, Maly Třebešov and Zájezd in the north, Malá Skalice and Česká Skalice in the northeast, Spyta in the east, Velka Jesenice in the southeast, Nový Dvůr and Volovka in the south, Doubravice u České Skalice in the southwest, Dolany in the west and Svinišťany in the northwest.

History

Říkov was first documented in 1366.

1837 built Hermann Dietrich Lindheim northeast of Rikow on Kleinskalitzer corridors on the Upa a large cotton mill. After the abolition of patrimonial Říkov formed in 1850 a municipality in the district Dvůr Králové nad Labem. From 1880 the village to the district Nové Město nad Metují was associated with and was reclassified in the late 19th century in the district Náchod. After the Second World War Říkov was reclassified to Okres Jaroměř. This was dissolved on January 1, 1961. In the course of municipal reform Říkov became the district of Česká Skalice in Okres Náchod. On 24 November 1990, the change of the name in Říkov was. With the beginning of 1993, the municipality was Říkov.

Southeast of the village towards Velka Jesenice is located on the railroad a commercial area. In the East, located on the main road the factory premises of the company Gondella CZ.
