Geography

Geographical Location

The municipality is located in the Odenwald about 30 km north of Heidelberg and about 35 km northeast of Mannheim. It is located on the B 38 and is drained by the Weschnitz.

Neighboring communities

Rimbach is bordered to the north by the municipality of Fürth, in the east on the community Grasellenbach, in the southeast on the community of forest -Michel Bach, in the south on the community Morlenbach and in the west on the town of Heppenheim.

History

In the 18th and early 19th centuries the population of the town increased. In 1730, 36 houses were counted in Rimbach; 1806 there were 90 houses with 598 inhabitants. Agriculture was enriched by the cultivation of legumes such as alfalfa or sainfoin, as well as potatoes. Potato cultivation is already occupied in Zotzenbach about 1769.

1806 fell Rimbach with the other areas of the Erbacher, who belonged to the Frankish Empire District since 1500, the Grand Duchy of Hesse. With the Municipal Code of the Grand Duchy of 1812 Rimbach was as a village community part of the lowest level of state administration and it came to the emancipation of the serfs. The town then became the largest market in the Weschnitztal, so in 1845 12 were held cattle and four years markets. The transport links improved by expanding the Weschnitztalstraße to provincial road. 1871 had Rimbach 1703 inhabitants living in 205 houses. 1887 Today's Martin Luther School ( current name: 1945 ) was founded in Rimbach. Incorporations

Ahead of municipal reform in Hesse joined on 1 January 1969, the municipality Albersbach the community Rimbach on. On December 31, 1971 Zotzenbach followed with the hamlet Unter - Mengel Bach and lute Weschnitz and Mitlechtern. For the latter two communities, there was a majority decision. Rimbach is located on the Weschnitztalbahn from Weinheim to Fürth im Odenwald, branched off from the About Forest Railway in Morlenbach Wald- Michel Bach.
