Riptide (TV series)

Riptide is an American television series that was produced by Stephen J. Cannell Productions. The original title is Riptide, including its namesake yacht in the series. The English term is the water flowing back into the sea.

Action

The two Vietnam war veterans Cody Allen and Nick Ryder have a cabin cruiser named Riptide, a speedboat called Ebbtide, a GMC Jimmy, a 1960 Chevrolet Corvette and a really dilapidated, pink and interesting decorated helicopter called Screaming Mimi Sikorsky S- 58T. Together with her friend Murray Bozinsky - in contrast to the two athletic ex- soldiers unsportsmanlike, sonderlicher but lovable geek in the company of his robot Roboz - they run a detective agency in King Harbor, Redondo Beach, south of Los Angeles on the California coast.

Broadcast notes

In Germany, ZDF showed from 1985 to 1989, a selection of 47 episodes. The skipped episodes ranged ProSieben in 1990 and a single 1995 to present except for the episode The Twisted Cross, because it deals with the Nazis. More repetitions followed both at ProSieben (1991, 1994-1996), Sat.1 (1993 ), VOX (1996-1997 and 1998), kabel eins ( 2000, 2002 and 2008), kabel eins classics ( 2007, 2009 and two times 2010), RTL Crime (2012 and 2013) and RTL nitro since 2013. Subsequent the case of the Chinese ( Smiles We Left Behind ) from the third season was originally a two-part episode. For the German broadcasting was reduced by ZDF on the length of a regular sequence.

DVD Release

All three seasons have been released in the United States and Canada at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. In the Canadian version of the music in the first season is unchanged. In season two and three partial songs were exchanged.

The first season was released in Germany on May 29, 2009 by Universum Film on DVD. On 31 July and 25 September 2009, the squadrons were released two and three. All seasons of German DVDs include the unchanged music. Then appeared on 25 June 2010, the DVD Komplettbox, with all three seasons.

On the DVD release of the double episode The Case of the Chinese is completely visible. The two episodes The case of the Chinese and also the Twisted Cross are in the original version with German subtitles ( subtitles ) recorded on DVD discs.

Awards

The actor John Louie was nominated in 1985 for his guest appearance at Riptide in the Best Young Actor category for the Young Artist Award. The series was nominated at the TV Land Awards 2008 in the category Awesomest robot for use of the robot Roboz.
