Riva San Vitale

Riva San Vitale is a municipality in the district of Riva San Vitale, in the district of Mendrisio in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.

Geography

Riva San Vitale is located at the southern end of an arm of Lake Lugano at the foot of Monte San Giorgio.

History

The village was inhabited before the Etruscans in pre-Christian times, and later under the name of Vicus Subinates a Roman vicus.
