Robert H. Harrison

Robert Hanson Harrison ( * 1745 in Charles County, Maryland, † April 2, 1790 ) was an American jurist.

He was born the son of Richard Harrison and Dorothy Hanson in Charles County, was married twice and had two daughters, Sarah and Dorothy. Harrison was an attorney in Alexandria. He was a lieutenant in the 3rd Virginia Regiment in the Revolutionary War. In 1775 he was adjutant of George Washington. The following year he succeeded by Joseph Reed as military adviser (Military Secretary ) of Washington.

From 1781 to 1789 he worked as a judge in Maryland. During this time he was mainly involved in real estate law and should be appointed in 1789 by George Washington to the Supreme Court of the United States, but he refused for health reasons. In the presidential elections in 1789 Harrison received six electoral votes as a federalist. He died on 2 April 1790 at Charles County.
