Robert Schapire

Robert Elias Schapire (* December 15, 1963 ) is an American computer scientist who is concerned with machine learning. He is a professor at Princeton University.

It was in 1991 Ronald Rivest at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology PhD (The design and analysis of efficient learning algorithms ).

He developed in 1990 the first algorithms of boosting type (and thus replied to a problem of Leslie Valiant and M. Kearns (1988 ) that the class of weak learning algorithms equivalent to the strong learning algorithms ) and 1995 AdaBoost ( Adaptive Boost) with Yoav friend. In 2004 he was awarded the Gödel Prize for AdaBoost with Yoav friend the Paris Kanellakis Award and 2003.
