Robert Shaw (British actor)

Robert Shaw ( born August 9, 1927 in Westhoughton, United Kingdom, † August 28 1978 in Tourmakeady, County Mayo, Ireland) was an internationally known British actor.

Life

He received his acting training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1949 he made his stage debut. He had the first major film role in the 1954 twisted strips May 1943 - The destruction of the dams. For internationally known star, he was in the 1970s with films such as Jaws, Stop the Death Ride the Subway 123, and The Sting.

In addition to acting, Robert Shaw operated also as a writer. He wrote some novels and plays. For his literary work, The Sun Doctor, he was awarded the Hawthornden Prize. Shaw was married three times and had ten children. From 1963 to 1975 he was married to actress Mary Ure; from this marriage four children. Robert Shaw died during the filming of his latest film Avalanche Express at the age of 51 of a heart attack.

For the film A Man for All Seasons Shaw was nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor, as well as for a Golden Globe.
