Robert Změlík

Robert Změlík ( born April 18, 1969 in Olomouc) is a former Czech decathlete and Olympic champion.

Robert Změlík had approached with fourth places at the European Championships in 1990 with 8249 points and at the 1991 World Championships with 8379 points slowly the world rankings.

In the 1992 Olympics he won with 8611 points, the gold medal. Among his greatest strengths in the individual disciplines included the long jump ( about 8 m) and the 110- meter hurdles. His best performance in the decathlon with 8627 points, he reached on 30 and 31 May 1992 for renowned Mösle Mehrkampf meeting in Götzis with the individual performances:

100m 10.62 / 2.1 m / s tail wind - Long Jump 8.02 / 0.2 - Shot Put 13.93 - High Jump 2.05 - 48.73 400m / 110m hurdles 13.84 / 1.2 - Discus 44 44 - Pole Vault 4.90 - javelin 61.26 - 1500m 4:24,83.

After the 1992 season, he was not able to return to his best. His best finish was then seventh place at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 with 8422 points. But in this race he was only second best Czech, Tomáš Dvořák was in Atlanta for a third party.

One last time was Robert Změlík international attention on him when he won at the World Indoor Championships in Paris in the heptathlon with 6228 dots for in 1997, after he had already been second at the 1992 European Indoor Championships with 6118 points.
