Rodenberg Aue

The Rodenberg Aue is 28 km long right tributary of the Westaue in Lower Saxony, in the districts of Schaumburg and Hameln -Pyrmont, Deister Süntel Valley.

Course

The Rodenberg Aue Aue arises as at Kessiehausen, above Bakede on Süntel, about 190 m above sea level. NN. It drains the eastern Süntel, the Western Deister and the northeastern part of the Bückebergs, totaling an area of 170 square kilometers. In its course over 50 km, it takes the water of numerous mountain streams on, is dammed in Rodenberg, Horsten and Rehren by weirs, underpasses behind Lauenau the BAB 2 in Bad Nenndorf the B 65 and above Auhagen the Mittelland Canal, about 50 m above sea level. NN.

In Sachsenhagen - Auhagen they united with the Saxons Haeger Aue to Westaue that it opens soon in the line at Wunstorf - Liethe. The rarely more than 2 meters wide floodplain flows through the Deister Süntel valley from south to north and follows the preglacial course of the Weser, the kink today by the West before this valley.

In earlier times, the floodplain was used to run some mills. Today it is occasionally still training the canoeists.
