Roger-Award
The Roger Award is a prize for the worst transnational corporation based in New Zealand. It is named after the former finance minister, Sir Roger Douglas.
Administration
The Roger is donated by two left-wing organizations, Campaign Against Foreign Control of Aotearoa and GATT Watchdog. The judges are independent, but they are usually selected from the left -wing intellectuals and activists in New Zealand.
Selection criteria
The winner will be selected by the judges for consideration of four criteria:
- Economic Dominance - monopolies, profiteering, tax tricks, cultural imperialism
- People - unemployment, the importance of women, the importance of children, abuse of workers / conditions, health and safety of workers and the general public, cultural imperialism
- Environment - environmental degradation, abuse of animals
- Political suggestibility - Cultural imperialism, ideological crusades
Each group wins in three categories will be added to the "Hall of Shame" and is not entitled to participate in future Roger Awards.
