Roland Assinger

Roland Assinger ( born May 9, 1973 in Hermagor, Carinthia ) is an Austrian former alpine skier and current coach. As an active racer he specialized in the speed disciplines Downhill and Super- G, and reached the World Cup podium and several top 10 results. His older brother, Armin was also skier.

Career

Assinger was included in the national squad of the Austrian Ski Federation ( Austrians ) 1994. In the European Cup he scored the second place in the departure of Saalbach- Hinterglemm in the 1994/95 season. With a further two top-10 results he achieved with one point ahead of his compatriot Rainer Salzgeber and the Russians Andrei Filischkin second place in the downhill standings. At winter's end, he had his first appearance in the World Cup in the downhill in Bormio. He finished the race 21st place.

In the first World Cup downhill of the season 1995/96 Assinger drove in Vail already in sixth. In the European Cup he showed constant performance, twice came to the podium and another seven times into the top ten.
