Rolf Bernhard

Rolf Bernhard ( born December 13, 1949 in Frauenfeld ) is a former Swiss track and field athlete, specialized in the long jump discipline.

Bernhard took over in 1971 with 7.66 meters for the first time the Swiss record. He surpassed this in the following years, several more times: in 1975, he jumped for the first time 8 meters, his personal best of 8.14 meters he reached on 1 August 1981 in Ebensee. This Swiss record was 22 years existence, until he was surpassed by Julien Fivaz 2003.

Bernhard was 1981 European Champion in the hall, in 1974, he finished at the European Athletics Championships in fifth place. He was several times Swiss champion and was elected to the Swiss Sportsman of the Year 1975.
