Rolinha Kross

Rolinha Kross ( born 1961 ) is a Dutch singer.

Life

She comes from a Jewish- Czech mother and Surinamese father. As a child she was fascinated by Eastern European music and the Yiddish language. Breakfast, she performed with various groups, including with her mother, Ilona Cechova as Duo Sense. She also studied jazz singing / Light music at the Conservatory in Hilversum and Amsterdam.

Immediately after the academic training, she launched a tour with the musical You're the Top, with Willem Nijholt in the lead role. In the meantime, she worked with Burton Greene Klezmokum, Solomon Klezmorim and jazz ensembles. With the Rolinha Kross Trio, which included Bokkie Vink and Theo van Tol, the album Klezmer Tsigayner was recorded; followed by et al appearances in Canada and Curacao.

Subsequently, she was on tour with Ramses Shaffy in Dutch and Belgian theaters and with Ira Gershwin with Ernst Daniël Smid production, Mathilde Santing and Denise Jannah. Then she became a member of the Klezmer group Mazzeltov. Also in this group, she has performed at home and abroad and recorded four albums. Rolinha also appeared three times with Mazzeltov at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

Rolinha plays in the musical show Iberia, which she developed with Perry Dossett. With guitarist Harold Berghuis they created with their music a program of Yiddish poetry ( translated by Willy Brill ). She was a guest on the show by Frank in person with jazz standards. With the ensemble Balqana it presents a more Balkan - oriented program. The Rolinha Kross quartet puts an emphasis on Dutch texts and gypsy jazz. Furthermore, it organizes singing workshops, speaker's voice is in commercials and documentaries commented.
